In 2003 Eric was diagnosed with a malignant Sertoli cell tumor, an extremely rare form of testicular cancer for which he underwent surgeries and chemotherapy. He fought with determination and spirit, never giving up, but died on March 19th, 2005, at the age of 33. This blog was Eric's way of keeping family and friends apprised of his condition. This site will be maintained indefinitely so that others may share in his humor, his pains and, most important, his love of life.

Been trying to keep myself busy. Feel so profoundly empty.
I scanned a bunch of photos of Eric before I had to return them to their owners. I've made an online photo album to share. You can see them by clicking here.
Although recently my life has been focused on beating cancer, there's more to me than disease. I enjoy cooking, fishing, reading, hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities. I also enjoy spending time with Lyn, buying/selling antiques, eating new foods, listening to music and hunting down lesser-known movies. Most of my time is spent feeding Charcoal, our large, gray cat. Our other cats, Midi and Misha, are not as demanding. I also enjoy hearing from friends. hint, hint

I weep for so many reasons as I peruse the photos . . . as a mother that can't fathom a world that would take a son before herself; as a friend who cannot understand why one of the most loving people she have ever met has to lose her soulmate; as a person who feels fortunate to have known Eric.

Thank you for sharing these with everyone. It certainly doesn't take much to remind me of countless times sharing a laugh and a smile with Eric, but it helps to see that same smile in those photos I wasn't there to experience. It means there are still many, many more stories behind those pictures, and I'd love to hear them all someday.
