Saturday, 10/2 -- Would you like to Supersize that?

Today I feel pretty good. I think I slept much better last night than any night this week. Gee, I wonder why.

I can't wait to see how much stronger I feel at this point next week. I suspect that I might even be up for taking walks around the neighborhood. Crazier things have happened.

After my surgeries, I recovered my strength much faster than this. As I remember, I was taking short walks within two weeks of surgery. Each day I would go a little further. Within 4 weeks of surgery I was walking a few miles a day.

The weakness from chemo feels so much different. The weakness isn't based on weak muscle, rather weak blood. I hope that through exercise I can help build my blood, I don't know if it works that way.

My muscle tone is also pretty poor, but that can change pretty quickly.

I'm not planning on winning the Tour de France anytime soon. There'll be plenty of time for that next year and the year after. I'm looking more short term. I want to be able to go grocery shopping, mow the lawn and return to work. It's not too much to ask.

Movie Recommendation: Super Size Me
It's a documentary about a healthy man that decides to eat McDonald's food three times a day for a month. His experiment tests the claim by McDonald's that their food is healthy. The results are surprising.

It's a very entertaining movie.

Alex here. Schwegel forwarded me the link to your blog. I'm so impressed by your courage and stamina. Keep on fighting "Mr. C" and keep that most important muscle in your head well exercised. If you ever need help with those monkeys, give us a call. Alex & Wilma Anonymous ;)

Engaging in a two-month-long chemical-cocktail drinking game with your cancer and drinking it under the table, a massive and well-earned hangover shouldn’t be totally unexpected, right? The mental energy alone that you've expended is enough to keep most people laid up for a year.
Keep going strong you're doing great so far!

Side note: your red-assed monkeys are getting to be very popular. You may wish to give them their own blog.

"Supersize Me" is very funny, informative, and very disturbing. My 4-year old niece knows what a Big Mac, a McGriddle sandwich, and Chicken McNuggets are despite never having eaten them or ever visiting a McDonalds. Yikes! How do you win?

If I never hear another thing about a red-assed monkey, hurricane or red-assed anything else - it will be too soon. Keep up the healing and improvement, positive thoughts = positive results. I just found out a good pal of mine in Nevada grappled with liver cancer a little over 2 years ago - which would explain why she sort of slipped off the earth for a bit. She now is the mother of a beautiful little boy, and life couldn't be happier, or healthier. Her comment on how she got through? "I just treated it like it was the flu. I never let myself think for a moment that I was not going to get rid of it." Treat it like its the flu Eric. We all believe in you. Supersize THAT.
